In June 2022, Toyota introduced the striking GR Corolla Morizo, and we're thrilled to present the very first one in our showroom. This model is elegantly finished in a shade called "Smoke," a dark matte gray that beautifully complements the black Brin-Naub and synthetic leather upholstery. The Smoke color accentuates the enhanced bodywork, imparting a more aggressive and captivating appearance to the vehicle.

The Toyota design team made impressive enhancements to the GR Corolla Morizo. Wider fender flares, a revamped front fascia, and rocker extensions were meticulously crafted to give the car an imposing presence, ensuring that anyone who encounters it understands that this is a unique and sporty variant.

But this isn't just any GR Corolla; it's a Morizo Edition, which means it boasts a carbon fiber roof, front grille, rear spoiler, and hood vents, all in gloss black finish. At the rear, a triple stainless steel exhaust underscores the model's athletic character.

The Morizo edition is outfitted with 18-inch forged alloy wheels in matte black, wrapped in 245/40 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Toyota equipped this sporty Corolla with a GR track suspension, accentuated by red-painted GR-branded brake calipers.

Inside, the track-focused GR Corolla Morizo forgoes rear seats in favor of snug bucket seats, finished in black Brin-Naub and synthetic leather, with striking red stitching that complements the red seatbelts and GR logos on the headrests. The Morizo shift knob is luxuriously wrapped in Alcantara.

The GR multifunction steering wheel, enveloped in exclusive Ultrasuede, features a vibrant red stripe that enhances the sporty atmosphere of the interior. The vehicle also comes with automatic climate control and a push-button start. Furthermore, it is equipped with Safety Sense 3.0 systems, including dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection.

To manage the car's functions, you have an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. A plaque mounted on the left side of the dashboard proudly confirms that this is number 001 of only 200 Morizo Edition examples ever manufactured.
Powering the GR Corolla is a turbocharged 1.6-liter G16E-GTS inline-three engine, delivering a robust 300 horsepower (304 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. This power is transmitted to both axles via a six-speed iMT manual transmission with automatic rev-matching, a GR four-wheel-drive system, and front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials. This exceptional configuration ensures a "fun-to-drive" experience.

Acceleration is impressive, with the hot hatch covering the 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) sprint in just 4.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 143 mph (230 kph). While it may not be in supercar territory, considering its weight of 3,186 pounds (1,445 kilograms), this 1.6-liter engine performs admirably. In fact, GR engineers have managed to shed about 100 pounds (45 kilograms) compared to the GR Corolla Circuit Edition model.

The Morizo Edition also benefits from additional floor and rear strut braces and a GR track-tuned suspension. Red-painted GR-branded four-piston front and two-piston rear brake calipers with slotted rotors provide impressive stopping power.
Notably, the car boasts 349 additional welds across the body and over six meters more structural adhesive than a standard Corolla hatch frame, enhancing its overall stiffness.

The GR Corolla Morizo in our possession is brand-new, with only 16 miles (26 kilometers) on the 12.3-inch instrument cluster odometer. It is currently available for auction on Bring a Trailer, without a reserve price.

The winning bidder will also receive valuable items such as manufacturer's literature, two key fobs, a window sticker, a Memorandum Invoice, and complimentary shipping anywhere within the continental US via RunBuggy. Additionally, the selling dealer will provide assistance with registration.

What makes this auction even more special is that all proceeds, along with the BaT buyer's fee, will be donated to the El Monte City School District and Vision to Learn, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing vision screening, eye exams, and glasses to underprivileged children.

The auction, which began recently, will run until October 24, and the funds raised will support the establishment of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math labs, as well as market spaces at each of the district's schools. Some of the proceeds will also be used to support a transportation career technical education program for students with hands-on experience in the automotive industry.

This GR Corolla Morizo initially rolled off the assembly line as the very first of 200 units and was subsequently acquired by Longo Toyota, a California dealership, for $52,929. As of now, with seven days remaining, bidding has already exceeded $67,000.

That's ridiculous, it's nowhere near a $70K car, even with only 200 being produced and no matter what excuse the dealerships want to utilize to sell it over MSRP.

AWD still overheats if pushed on the track and Toyota will cancel its warranty, if they find telemetry which demonstrates such use. Attempt to correct the shortcomings in the chassis or powertrain and the car immediately loses any residual value. DUMB!

So there's nothing to gain by paying over MSRP and the negative equity will also reflect when it's resold. " It's like buying a $250K home for $400K and finding out the housing market fails, leaving a negative equity and you with a big mortgage payment. Plain STUPID!"

Too many cons than pros, for a car that's correctly MSRP priced at $52K. Common sense says; avoid such a scam.

What's worse is, Toyota isn't stepping in and telling franchised dealers "no markups." Toyota isn't selling GR's to dealers with a markup and it only hurts Toyota's reputation and bottomline in the long run. Bottomline is, it's greed driving owner/corporately owned dealerships at play.

A rational perspective and two cents.👍🇺🇸
